Marguerite L. Carlson, age 92, of Litchfield died surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastors Harvey Nelson and Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM before the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery
Marguerite Leone Carlson, the daughter of Oscar and Louise (Roberg) Ness, was born on October 26, 1917, in Litchfield, MN. She grew up in the rural Litchfield area receiving her education and graduating from Litchfield High School. On September 29, 1940, Marguerite was united in marriage to Clinton Carlson. Together, they made their home in Litchfield. Marguerite worked at the county court house, taught piano lessons in her home, and worked at the JC Penney Store in Litchfield. She was also the organist at the Ness Lutheran Church for many years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, taking walks, bowling and visiting with friends and relatives.
She is survived by her son; Richard of New Prague, MN, daughter Nancy (and John) Nicklasson of Litchfield, MN, grandchildren; Laurie (and Todd) Terning of Litchfield, MN, Christine (and Mike) O'Meara of Le Center, Sandy Nicklasson (and special friend Mike Moore) of Rochester, MN, and Richard Carlson II of New Prague, MN, great grandchildren; Keegan O'Meara and Carson Terning, step great grandchildren; Stacey (and Eric) Doering of Litchfield, MN, Megan, Ashley and Jonathan Terning of Litchfield, MN, brother; Kenneth Ness of Litchfield, MN and many nieces, nephews, close friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband Clinton, parents, sister Lucille, and daughter-in-law Catherine Carlson.
