Darlene Halvorson, age 84, of Litchfield died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Zion Lutheran and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ness Memorial Cemetery.
Alta "Darlene" Halvorson, the daughter of Alvah and Anna (Lindberg) Williams, was born on August 18, 1928, in Grove City. She grew up in Grove City and graduated from Grove City High School in 1946. On April 2, 1947, she was united in marriage to Oliver Halvorson at First Lutheran Church in Grove City. Ollie and Darlene had recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They made their home in Litchfield where Darlene worked for the Independent Review and KLFD Radio Station. She also worked for a short time at Sears. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. Darlene enjoyed travelling with Ollie and spending time with her friends.
She is survived by her son David (and Connie) Halvorson of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren, Jamie (and Adam) Waldron, Amanda Bergen, Eric Bane, Donald Bane, Cassaundra Stinson and Thomas George, 5 great grandchildren, sister Eileen (and Philip) Bergstrom of Paynesville, sister-in-law Jean Williams of New Brighton, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ollie, brother Al Williams and niece Debbie Van Vickle.
