Derwood "Doug" GranvilleNovember 14, 1935 ~ October 1, 2017 (age 81)
Derwood “Doug” Granville, 81 of Watkins, passed away at his home residence on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Rev. Jack Heidenreich will officiate. Arrangements are with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.
Derwood “Doug” Granville was born on November 14, 1935 in Springfield Township, Maine. He was the son of Robert and Vera (Frazer) Granville. He grew up and graduated from high school in Maine and moved to Minneapolis area in 1957. Doug served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean Conflict. On May 23, 1975, Doug was united in marriage to Geraldine “Gerry” McGraw at the North Memorial Hospital Chapel in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis where Doug worked on engine and railcar maintenance for the Soo Line Railroad for many years. Following his retirement in 1995, they moved to their lake home on Clear Lake near Watkins where Doug enjoyed woodworking. His wife, Gerry, passed away in 2007.
Doug is survived by his children and their spouses, Debra and Raymond Gonshorowski of Oak Grove, Bryan and Luz Granville of Robinsdale; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; first wife and close friend, Donna Granville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gerry; daughter, Tami Kill; and brothers and sisters.
