John P. Langer, 70 of Kimball, passed away at his home on Monday, December 24, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Fr. Aaron Nett will officiate. Friends may call from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Friday at the funeral home.
John P. Langer was born on April 5, 1948 at St. Cloud, Minnesota, the son of Gilbert and Hiltrude (Ophoven) Langer. He grew up in the Kimball area and graduated from the Kimball High School in 1966. Following high school, John served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany until his discharge in March of 1973. He was a member of the Watkins Legion Post 453.
On October 12, 1974, John was united in marriage to Deanna Neu at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins. They resided at rural Kimball and John was employed as a plumber at J.M. Ertl and Sons in Watkins for many years. He was a member of the Plumber’s Local 34 union.
John is survived by his wife, Deanna of Kimball; Children, Brad (Kim) Langer of Eagan, Michele (Nate) Sogge of Eden Valley; grandchildren, Matt and Hunter Sogge of Eden Valley; mother-in-law, Betty Neu of Watkins; brothers, Donald Langer of St. Cloud, Gary (Diane) Langer of Melrose; brother-in-law, Merlin Stelton of Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merlin Langer and sister, Lorraine Stelton
