Lawrence "Larry" G. Geislinger

March 1, 1942 ~ February 2, 2018 (age 75)

Lawrence “Larry” Geislinger, 75 of Litchfield, formerly of Watkins, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Darwin Lakeview Ranch Assisted Living, Memory Care Unit.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with interment in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.  Fr. Aaron Nett will officiate. 

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, both at the St. Anthony Catholic Parish Center.  Watkin Legion Post 453 will pray at 6:30 PM on Tuesday at the Parish Center followed by Parish Prayers at 8:00 PM.  Arrangements are with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.

 

Lawrence “Larry” Geislinger was born on March 1, 1942 in Watkins to Edward and Marcella (Boeckmann) Geislinger.  He graduated from the Eden Valley High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army from August 1960 to February 1961.  On June 29, 1963, Larry was united in marriage to Viola “Olle” Mayers at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich.  They resided in St. Paul and New Hope prior to moving to Watkins in 1966.  Larry farmed in Watkins and was employed with many different construction companies. 

 

Larry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins, the Watkins Legion Post 453 and the 40/8. He was also a member of the Catholic Aid Association and a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.  His hobbies included baseball, softball, golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting, playing cards, traveling, and trips to the casino.  Larry met Olle at the New Munich Ballroom and he enjoyed dancing the Polka together.  He also enjoyed petting his cat, “Kitty”, reading the bible, watching TV shows such as The Price Is Right, Bonanza, Hogan Heroes and Lawrence Welk.  Larry was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed watching them on TV and at Target Field.  He was especially fond of his grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.

 

Larry is survived by his wife, Viola “Olle” Geislinger of Litchfield; children, Kevin (Kim) Geislinger of Grand Rapids, Steve (Cindy) Geislinger of Watkins, Brian Geislinger (fiancée, Liz Hamilton) of Chippewa Falls, WI, Harv (Holly) Geislinger of Watkins, Brenda (Donovan) Prahl of Litchfield, Denise (Tim) Olson of Litchfield, Junior (Sarah) Geislinger of Watkins; 20 grandchildren; brothers, Elmer (Kathleen) Geislinger, Irv (Betty) Geislinger, Victor (Mary Jane) Geislinger, Robert "Birdie" (Diane) Geislinger, all of Watkins; brothers-in-law, Jim Janssen and  Norbert Lahr of Watkins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marcella Geislinger; sisters, Diane Janssen and Arlene Lahr; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Rosie Geislinger.
