Lloyal S. Nelson, age 85 of Litchfield died on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home in Litchfield. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 Pm on Tuesday, February 20th at the church and also one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery.
Lloyal Sylvester Nelson, the son of Nels T. and Anna O. (Martinson) Nelson, was born on May 29, 1932 in Litchfield Township. He lived on the farm he was born on for 78 years before moving into Litchfield. He attended District 8 Country School and Litchfield High School. Lloyal farmed with his family and had a passion for cars. He sold cars for Ferguson Motors, Holt Motors and Tangen Ford. He was a member of Arndahl Lutheran Church and then Zion Lutheran. Lloyal enjoyed snowmobiling. He belonged to a snowmobile club and even took several snowmobile trips. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Lois Nelson of Litchfield, children Linda (Kevin) Piepenburg of Litchfield, LaRae (Richard) Plummer of Woodbury, Loren (Patricia) Nelson of Elk River; grandchildren, Christian Piepenburg, Ryan Piepenburg, Chase (Resche) Piepenburg, Jeffrey Plummer, Daniel Plummer, Kayleigh Nelson; step-grandchildren, Ben Eischen, Jim Eischen; great grandchildren, Treyton Piepenburg, Jada Piepenburg, Parker Piepenburg; great-great grandchild Adalynn Piepenburg; sisters-in-law Mae Brynteson and Janice Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Randly Nelson, Burton Nelson, Allen Nelson, and sister Marcella Anderson.
