Shirley E. Ball, 82 of Watkins, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kimball Church of Christ. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. Pastor Kevin White and Pastor Gerald Albert will officiate. Arrangements are with the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.

Shirley was born on June 7, 1935 in Rawlins, Wyoming. She was the daughter of Erwin and Carmelyte (Lindquist) Kruger. She grew up in Litchfield and graduated from the Litchfield High School in 1956. Shirley continued her education at the Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, IL.

On November 16, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to William "Bill" Ball at the Church Of The Nazarene in Litchfield. They had resided at Litchfield, Hutchinson and Hopkins. They moved to their home on Clear Lake, south of Watkins, 21 years ago. They also spent the winter months in Florida for the past five years.

Shirley was a member of the Kimball Church of Christ where she was active with the Positive Piecemakers Quilting Group. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Club of Litchfield, and many bible study groups. Her hobbies included fishing, traveling, camping and crocheting. She enjoyed watching sports on television and she was an avid supporter of her grandchildren's sporting events, and especially enjoyed watching them play in the sports they were involved in.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Bill Ball of Watkins; children and their spouses, Zaneta and Shawn Larson of Chaska, Karen and Timothy Bleach of Wauwatosa, WI, Sheryl and Kevin Thomas of Hopkins, Wendell and Sherri Ball of Coon Rapids, JaNell and Mark Nelson of Eden Prairie; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother and his wife, Loren and Penny Kruger of Darwin. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center, Kimball Church of Christ or the Kimball Church of Christ's Dominican Ministry, Feed The Children Program.
