Roman F. Stommes

Roman F. Stommes, age 89 of Watkins, MN passed away on Saturday November 21, 2020 at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday November 25 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watkins. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the parish center. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Watkins. Roman Frank Stommes, the son of John Ben and Mary (Dockendorf) Stommes was born in St. Nicholas, MN on April 15, 1931. He received his education in St. Nicholas and was united in marriage to Evelyn Theis on September 1, 1954 in the Eden Valley Assumption Catholic Church. Roman was later united in marriage to Mary Ann Donnay on August 11, 2000 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Watkins. He served in the Army and was a member of the Watkins American Legion. Roman farmed and sold Jacques Seed Corn. He was a carpenter, a self taught electrician and a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and bingo, singing in the choir and watching the MN Vikings. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; children Richard (Suzanne) Stommes, Janice (Peter) Vossen, Barbara (Mike) Manuel, Steven Stommes, Mark (Lisa) Stommes, Robert (Jeanie) Stommes, Tim Stommes, Annette (Kevin) Holtz, Theresa (Tony) Faber and Lori (Chucky) Unterberger; 22 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 10 stepchildren; and siblings Margaret Torborg, Elmer Stommes, Jerome Stommes and John Stommes. He was preceded in death by his parents John Ben and Mary; first wife Evelyn; and siblings Alois Stommes, Marie Kuechle, Alfred Stommes, Ervin Stommes and Eugene Stommes.
