Stephan ""Steve"" Joseph Zimmer

Stephan (Steve) Joseph Zimmer, age 53 of Watkins, died unexpectedly at his home on January 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Fr. John Brunner will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home. Stephan (Steve) Zimmer was born on January 16, 1960 at Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the son of Eugene and Mary ( Beckwith) Zimmer. He moved with his parents to Excelsior, Minnesota in 1969. Steve was a 1978 graduate of Benilde - St. Margaret High School. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota in Duluth and Minneapolis. Steve was employed as a machinist until 2002, when he moved to his parents home on Clear Lake, South of Watkins, to assist them in their retirement. He enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing and hunting. Steve is survived by his father, Eugene Zimmer of Watkins, MN; brothers and sister and their spouses, John and Barbara Zimmer of Cologne, MN, James and Christy Zimmer of Waconia, MN, Thomas Zimmer of South Haven, MN, Victoria and Michael Howard of Pittsford, NY. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Zimmer.
