Albert "Butch" Henry Kolar

Albert H. "Butch" Kolar, age 81, of Clare, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson. A walk through visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will be at a later date in Walnut Grove, Mn as well as a memorial at a later date in Clare Iowa. Albert Henry Kolar, the son of Charles and Myrtle (Shellum) Kolar, was born on February 24, 1940, in Tracy Minnesota. He attended school in Walnut Grove and began working on the family farm at an early age. On August 24th 1963 he was married to Sheireen Shanley in Milroy Mn. They were later divorced. Butch Served in the US Navy from March of 1962 until March of 1965 aboard the USS Yosemite. One of his responsibilities while on the resupply ship was to repair and maintain the refrigeration units. He returned to Minnesota and worked as a mechanic at Klasse Sales and Service in Westbrook. In 1970, he began working for Putzier Ornberg in Litchfield and then worked for Schlauderaff Implement for 1978 -1996. He moved to Clare, Iowa in 1996 and worked as a lathe operator for Chantland Manufacturing in Humbolt. Butch was a member of the Handyman Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, feeding and watching the squirrels. He was always willing to lend a hand, he was known for his handyman services and lawn care. Butch liked being around people, sharing a good joke or a snappy comeback. Some of the highlights of his day was morning coffee with “the guys” and a trip through the countryside to look at the crops. He is survived by his daughters Goldie Smith (Todd Clark) of Grove City, Jennifer Hanson of Eden Valley and Carmen (Doug) Kotila of Dassel, grandchildren Todd Smith Jr., Tinisha Smith, Timothy (Tiffany) Smith, Beau Hanson, Logan Hanson, Cole Hanson and Heather (Chris) Keppers and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Judy (Jerry) Grothe of Zumbrota, sister-in-law Geneva Kolar of Walnut Grove, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert “Hub” Kolar
