Andy G. Allen

Andy G. Allen, age 91, of St. Cloud, MN died on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Grove City, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, February 15th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Andy Gerald Allen, the son of John and Wilhelmina (Jordin) Allen, was born near Star Lake in Acton Township, Meeker County on August 10, 1924. Andy served in the US Army in the 41st Infantry Division in the Philippines and Japan from 1944 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Lois Ruhn in 1952 and later united in marriage to Ruth (McCarty) Christenson in 1981. Throughout his life he lived in the Litchfield area where he work for Johnson-Brothers until his retirement, when he lived in Texas for 13 years. He was a member of the Church of God in Litchfield, MN, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He enjoyed making crafts, his pet dogs, and travelling, especially to Sweden. He is survived by his wife Ruth of Litchfield, MN; daughter Dana (Doug) Varner of Greenfield, MN; step-children Betty (Richard) Allen of Litchfield, MN, Linda (Gary) Prieve of Litchfield, MN, Joann (Connie) Celander of Grove City, MN and David (Elizabeth) Christenson of Litchfield, MN; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brother Archie; and sister-in-law Opal Allen.
