Audrey Harris

Audrey Norma Emmaline Harris, age 96 of Litchfield, MN died on Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday October 20, 2018 at All Saint’s Lutheran Church in Darwin, MN with a visitation from 9:00 until the 10:30 AM service at church. Interment will be held in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Audrey Harris, the daughter of Harry and Jennie (Lindberg) Hanson, was born on December 2, 1921 in Cosmos, MN. She grew up in Cosmos and was baptized on June 19, 1924 and Confirmed in 1934 at First Lutheran Church of Cosmos. Audrey was active in the VFW Girls Drum and Bugle Corp for three years and played softball for Litchfield for 10 years. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1941. After graduation she was employed at the Hotel Coffee Shop, Fransein’s Café and the Gamble Store in Litchfield. She was united in marriage to Clarence (Bud) E. Harris, Jr. on October 17, 1948 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. They lived in Lincoln Park, Michigan before returning to Minnesota, where they operated the Harris Café in Cosmos. They moved to Darwin in 1959. Audrey was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin. Over the years, Audrey worked a variety of jobs in the canning factory, babysitting, dog sitting, as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling, softball, baseball, Litchfield Dragon sports, snowmobiling, music in the park, euchre, travel, serving in a variety of volunteer positions at church & VFW Auxiliary, time with family, and most of all, the Minnesota Twins. She is survived by her daughters Jaclyn (Michael) McGhee of Litchfield, MN, and Jolene (Mark) Cooper of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren Andrew (Tamra) Lenz of Oakdale, MN, Kelly (Jason) Hathaway of Woodland, WA, Beth (Kelly) Shinners of Vancouver, WA, and Jared McGhee of Fargo, ND; great grandchildren Cole Hathaway, Logan Hathaway, Keegan Shinners and Emmiline Shinners. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Jennie Hanson; husband Clarence “Bud” Harris, Jr.; daughter Janelle (Harris) McRae; brother LeRoy Hanson and sister Lillias (Jo) (Hanson) Gilhousen. For those attending the Celebration of Life for Audrey Harris, feel free to honor her memory by wearing Minnesota Twins clothing.
