Barbara Ann Langmo (Walter) passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, just eight hours shy of her 91st birthday. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9th, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church.
Barbara was born on February 21, 1935, in St. Peter, Minnesota, to Anthony and Eunice (Theis) Walter. She was the beloved wife of Keith H. Langmo, who passed away in 2018 after 65 years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on family and shared many years raising their three children: Bradley, Susan, and Greg. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren who brought her great joy.
Barbara had a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. She was an exceptionally active woman who enjoyed playing tennis well into her 80s. She also loved snow skiing, water skiing, horseback riding, and spending time outside, particularly at Lake Koronis.
Gardening was one of her special talents and great pleasures. She took pride in creating and caring for her beautiful gardens. Animals, especially dogs and cats, were another passion of hers, and pets were always an important part of her life. However, her love of entertaining and cooking was always a highlight for those who got to experience it. She found great joy in bringing people together and creating meaningful moments.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her warm smile, her positive spirit, and her remarkable ability to move through life without complaint. Nature, her pets, and most of all her family were always at the center of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her three children Bradley (Anna) Langmo of Boca Raton, Florida, Susan Thompson of Del Mar, California and Greg and (Karen) Langmo of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Alexandra Langmo (Marco) of New York and Christian Langmo of Boca Raton Florida, Thomas (Maggie) Langmo of Bozeman, MT, Mikka (David) Langmo of Portland OR and Sam Langmo of Bozeman MT.; brother Rick (Peggy) Walter, sisters-in-law Shirley Walter and Donna Walter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith, infant son Thomas Mitchel, son-in-law Chet Thompson, and brothers Terry and Edward “JR” Walter.
