Grove City

Carole S. Larson, age 90 of Grove City, MN, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, MN.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City, MN.  The memorial service will be livestreamed at www.johnsonhagglund.com.

Carole S. Larson, the daughter of Arthur and Millicent (Clemens) Selchow, was born on December 3, 1933, in Minneapolis, MN.  Growing up in the Twin Cities, she played for the Minneapolis City Softball League and worked at the Minnesota State Fair several summers.  She graduated from Marshall High School in southeast Minneapolis and continued her education, graduating from Abbott Northwestern School of Nursing.  Carole was united in marriage to Burton Larson on October 15, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN.  She worked as a registered nurse for many years.   She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Grove City and later Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar, MN.  She was active in the church, where she taught Sunday school, was the piano player for the Gingham Girls, and was President of the regional LCW Women’s group.  Carole was a member of the Grove City Women’s Club, the Sunshine Club, and enjoyed flower gardening, reading, making jewelry, sewing and embroidering. Carole balanced her life between living on the farm she loved and cared for alongside Burton and their winter home in Arizona.

Carole is survived by her husband Burton Larson of Grove City, MN; children Steven (Heidi) Larson of Roseville, MN; Douglas (Velda) Larson of Paynesville, MN; and Barbara (Steve) Balinski of Rockford, MN; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and sister Nancy Christian of Sedona, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Millicent and Arthur; daughter Patricia; and brothers Richard and Robert.

Memorials preferred to Union Gospel Mission.
