Charles ""Chuck"" Theodore Erickson

Charles T. Erickson, age 81, of Litchfield died on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield after a three-year battle with prostate cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 29th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City and will continue one hour prior to the service. Charles Theodore Erickson, the son of Roy and Lilly (Anderson) Erickson, was born on January 6, 1935 in Baxter township near Montevideo, MN. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo on February 17, 1935 and confirmed on June 27, 1948. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1952. He entered the Army National Guard in 1953 and served until 1963. On January 26, 1963, he was married to Alvina Okeson at the First Lutheran Church in Grove City. He worked as a meat cutter and in food delivery for several years and lived in several different communities. He owned Chuck's Market in Buffalo Lake from 1977 until 1989. In 1988 he began working as a food inspector for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and retired in 2003. In retirement he drove for Litchfield Chrysler, Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and Meeker County Council on Aging. Alvina passed away in 2009. In September of 2010 he married Patricia Peterson. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and past congregations, serving as deacon, Trustee and on many committees. He loved horses, rodeos, lasso/rope tricks, and anything related to the old west. He also enjoyed roller skating (until age 76), playing cards, golfing and going for coffee. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people and loved to visit family and friends. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Litchfield, MN; children Holly (Doug) Miller of Sleepy Eye, MN; Ken (Stephanie) Erickson of Blaine, MN and Steven (MariGrace) Erickson of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren Nathan Miller, Matthew Miller, Mariah Miller, Justin Erickson, Andrew Erickson, Alyssa Erickson, Ryan Erickson and Katelyn Erickson; sister Carolyn Romsaas of Eagan, MN; brother Don (Darlene) Erickson of Breezy Point, MN; step-children Jeffry Peterson of Maggie Valley NC; Scott Peterson of Mound City, SD; Brian Peterson of Waynesville, NC, Bruce Peterson of Altoona, WI.
