Charles W. Jefferies, age 67, of Pierz died on Monday, October 28, 2019, at the Saint Cloud VA Health Care System. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, November 8th at the church with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Darwin. Charles William Jefferies, the son of William and Winifred (Wreisner) Jefferies, was born on March 14, 1952, in Minneapolis. He grew up in Hopkins and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1970. Charlie then served two years in the US Coast Guard in the great lakes region. He was discharged under disability status and began his struggle with emotional disabilities while maintaining an infectious charm. From time to time he would help his brother James farm in Wisconsin. While people gravitated to his personality, his one true connection in life was provided by the love of his mother. They had a special relationship and she was his foundation. Later in life Charlie became comfortable living in a group home where he once again connected to the staff and residents through in charismatic personality. Charlie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and hiking. He was a talented artist, expressing himself through paintings and sculptures. He also enjoyed his nieces and nephews and will be remembered for his generous sharing of gifts. He is survived by his brothers, Mark Jefferies of Chandler, AZ, James (Barbara) Jefferies of Richland Center, WI, Kevin Jefferies of Eureka, MT; sisters Anne Jefferies of Minneapolis, Jennifer (John) Mavison of Minnetonka and Mary Straus of Litchfield. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Doug Straus.
