Dale grew up in a small town in South Dakota. Following his graduation Dale proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After meeting his future wife Linda in college they both became teachers in Litchfield, MN where they spent the remainder of their lives and Dale pursued his own business. Dale was an enthusiastic and very active participant in his community serving on the School Board, the Hospital Board, Litchfield City Council, and the Meeker County Board of Commissioners. He was also involved in Kiwanis, Rotary, the American Legion Post 104, the VFW Post 2818, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited where he worked on and supported many projects. Dale enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his friends over the years.
Dale was an adventurous traveler who visited many foreign countries and cultures. This coupled with his voracious appetite for reading and studying contributed greatly to Dales world view. It was obvious that Dale held the belief that, as world citizens, our basic needs and desires which unite us far outweigh the politics and distances that divide us. And in true Dale form, he was more than happy to share any of his bits of wit and wisdom with anyone who would listen.
Dale is survived by his only child Greta. He was preceded in death by his loving Wife Linda, and parents Sanroe and Susan Smolnisky.
