David ‘Dave’ John Strohmeier, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Zumwalde) Strohmeier was born in St. Cloud, MN on September 20, 1947. He graduated from St. Boniface High School in 1965 and then enlisted in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Patricia Stelten on February 17, 1968, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Kimball. Dave and Pat spent the first years of their marriage living in Minneapolis and in 1971, they moved to Watkins and raised their four children: Jim, Deb, Scott, and Mike. They moved to live on Clear Lake in 1973 and over the years Dave owned various businesses, worked construction and in his retirement farmed the family farm in Luxemberg township. He was a member of the Church of St. Anthony, the American Legion and was a volunteer fire fighter. Dave was “not one to sit still” so he kept busy plowing snow, cutting wood, breeding hunting dogs, woodworking, and taking care of his home garden. He enjoyed hunting, playing card games, morning coffee with the guys up town, and going to his grandkids sporting events. Although he was hard-working, and always keeping busy, Dave had a softer side, which really showed after Pat’s passing. He will be missed by family and friends.
Dave is survived by his children and their families: Jim and Jaime Strohmeier (Courtney and Lyndsey) of Little Falls, Deb and Matt Evans (Owen, Brynn, and Grace) of St. Paul, Scott and Karla Strohmeier (Emily, Anna, and Kate) of Council Bluffs, IA, and Mike and Breanne Strohmeier (Flynn and Krew) of Paynesville; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ecumen Homecare and Hospice, Paynesville Hospital, and Paynesville HealthCare Center, for the amazing care they provided and compassion they showed during his final days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mildred; wife Pat; and brother Danny Strohmeier.
