David Glen Osmundson

David Osmundson, 56, passed away on May 20, 2019, at the VA Medical Center in Saint Cloud, after fighting a determined 18-month long battle against lymphoma. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Interment with military honors will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls at 11 AM on Monday, June 10th. Memorials preferred to Lymphoma Research Foundation or DAV (Disabled American Veterans) in lieu of flowers. David Glen Osmundson, the son of Glen and Emily (Barnett) Osmundson, was born on May 30, 1962, in Litchfield. He grew up in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1980. In high school he was a talented athlete, a gifted football and hockey player. After a year of work, he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving 4 years. Dave was the only one of eight siblings to serve in the military. He was very proud of his service and of the men and women who have served our nation. He would strike up conversations easily with his military kin. He was grateful and appreciative of the care he chose and received through the years at the VA Medical Centers in St. Cloud and Minneapolis. Following his service years, he worked at Signature Airlines and Signature Flight Support as a mechanic and maintenance team member. He always had a strong mechanical aptitude and seemed to be able to fix anything. After work-related back injuries he worked at Midas in Champlin and other various sales and customer service positions. He was a member of the Osseo Maple Grove American Legion Post #172. Dave enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was an avid walleye fisherman making many trips to Lake of the Woods. He enjoyed ice fishing and cherished his ice fishing house. He had a soft spot for birds and loved his cats. Dave was very sociable and a great conversationalist. He gave advice freely. Dave was a fiercely independent person with a strong will. He had a fighting spirit, always choosing life, as he was determined to beat cancer. He loved his family. He embraced his nieces and nephews, and he had true lifelong friends. He is survived by his siblings, Paul Osmundson (Mary Sloan) of Ames Iowa, Rebecca (Robert) Smith of Coon Rapids, Dinah Osmundson (Dennis Olson) of Rochester, Marj (Mike) Solbrack of Litchfield, Ted (Jenn) Osmundson of Grafton, WI, Dan (Rebecca Hozak) Osmundson of Greenfield, IN and Amy Osmundson (Tony Cardenas) of Barrington, IL; nieces and nephews, Caleb (Crystal) Madden, Anna (Donaldo) Almazan-Osmundson, Katie (Aaron) Birkeland, Aaron Solbrack (Jordan Schilling), Kristen (Ryan) Wreede, Deegan Osmundson and Kaydra Osmundson; grand nieces and nephews, Adela, Lily, Liv, Anders and Mathias. He was preceded in death by his parents.
