David Owen Reeves

David O. Reeves, age 93, of Litchfield, died on April 3, 2017 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield, MN. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with Military Honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. David Owen Reeves, the son of Milton and Doris (Mitchell) Reeves, was born on August 19, 1923 in Algona, Iowa. His family moved various place while he was growing up. He attended and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1942. David was proud to achieve Eagle Scout. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 until 1946. He then returned to Minnesota and continued his education at Hamline University graduating with a BA in Economics in 1950. He was united in marriage to Amaryllis Samuelson on September 12, 1954 in Lafayette, MN. Together they lived in the Twin Cities area and he worked in accounting. David also sold garden plants that he raised. After Amaryllis retired they moved to Litchfield in 2001. They were faithful members of their church and while in Litchfield were members of Zion Lutheran. He enjoyed attending OWLS Bible study group. David loved indoor and outdoor gardening and started many plants from seed. He enjoyed watching over his gardens and the birds that visited them. He also like puzzles and was putting very challenging puzzles together into his nineties. David cherished time he spent with his family and friends. Survivors include his sister-in-law Mary Agnes Reeves of Salem, OR; nieces Elizabeth (Jim) Hanks of Washington, Kathy (Bob) Peterson of Mount Vernon, WA, Darla Okeson of Grove City, MN and Donna (Lynn) Luchsinger of New Richmond, WI, nephew Paul Reeves of Oregon, other relatives and friends.
