Denise Matrious

Denise Matrious, age 63 of Cosmos, passed away surrounded by her family at the St. Cloud Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. A funeral service for Denise will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 1:00PM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cosmos, Minnesota. Visitation will be held held one hour prior. Burial will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Cosmos immediately following the service.

Denise was born on February 27, 1961 in Saint Cloud, MN and grew up in Bemidji with six siblings. She graduated from Bemidji High School and attended BSU. Denise met Randy Matrious around 2001 and they have enjoyed the past two decades sharing their lives together. She spent most of her life focusing on her hobbies. She was a seamstress, gardener, baker and enjoyed canning all sorts of things. Denise loved being a grandmother and often took in additional kids to love on them like another grandma.

Denise is survived by the love of her life, Randy Matrious, her mother Florence Alice Robinson of Bemidji, her children Jason (Jenilynn) Marchand of Bemidji, Chad (Angie Webb-Darwin) Marchand of St. Cloud, Theodore “Teddy” Marchand of St. Cloud, Amber (Joel) Miller of Sauk Rapids, her siblings Jeff (Debbie) Deppa, Lonna Chwialkowski, Kevin Chwialkowski, Colleen Chwialkowski, Corey Chwialkowski, and her grandchildren Cidavia “Sadie” Scott, Christopher Donnell, Addilynn Marchand, Pete Marchand, Nolan Darwin, Joel “LJ” Miller IV, Elijah Wilking, Charlotte “Charlie” Miller, Emmalyn “Emma” Miller, and Henry “Hank” Matrious.

Denise is preceded in death by her father Roger Allen Chwialkowski “pronounced Smith” and her brother Arnold “Arnie” Deppa.
