Douglas C. Holle

Douglas Christian Holle, age 88, died peacefully at home on his farm, Tuesday, December 20, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Grove City, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Monday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be held at the First Baptist Cemetery in Grove City, MN. Doug was born January 14, 1928 on his parents farm east of Grove City. He attended Grove City High School where he played football and basketball. He met Ellen Jane Lounsbury of Paynesville at a barn dance and soon married on May 17, 1952. Once married they homesteaded the Holle family farm, attended the First Baptist Church where they started their faith in God together and began to raise a family of seven children. Ellen Jane passed in March of 1971. Through God's grace and closeness of family and friends Doug raised Candus, Debra, Richard, Jerome, Ann, Paul and Janelle. Doug had a special love of music, loved listening to his children and grandchildren play piano, guitar and other instruments, he had a love of God and the church family and had many dear friends. Doug enjoyed visiting with everyone he met, and making new friends. Doug had seven children and those children brought to him joy and 19 wonderful grandchildren, and 38 precious great-grandchildren whom he adored to the fullest. He was dearly loved by his family. We know he is in Heaven and he will be greatly missed by many. Doug is survived by his children Candus (John) Miller of Wasilla, AK and their children: Jane, Andrew, Emily, Kathryn and Susanna; Debra (Jack) Holle Brown of Kasilof, AK and children: Leah, Sally and Anne; Richard (Judy) Holle of Litchfield, MN and their children: Richard, Sara, Robyn, Autumn and Henry; Jerome Holle of Grove City, MN; Ann (Bruce) Dibb of Blaine, MN; Paul's children: David, Jacob, Erin and Emma; and Janelle Holle (fiancée-Curt Beuning) of Annandale, MN and children: Hayley Jane and Joseph; 38 great grandchildren; and sisters Helen (Ted) Swanson of Dannebrog, NE and JoAnn Holle of Litchfield, MN.
