Douglas Marvin Johnson

Douglas “Marvin” Johnson, age 81, of Watkins, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Douglas, the son of Marvin and Vivian (Christensen) Johnson, was born on April 3, 1943, in Litchfield, MN. After graduating from Litchfield High School in 1962, he enlisted in the United States Navy. On February 20, 1969, he married the love of his life, Sharon Seitz, and they enjoyed 56 years together.

After his Naval Career, Douglas went back into farming for many years. In 1985, he began working as a bricklayer for Terwisscha Construction in Willmar and then worked at Minnesota Rubber of Litchfield for 20 years.

Douglas was a member of Ostmark Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Post 2818. He was always willing to lend a hand, including caretaking. He loved all animals, including the most recent additions, Bossy, Archer, Goldie, and Whitie. Douglas spent his retirement reconnecting with friends and making new friends, meals with family, running errands, taking care of his lawn, visiting Walmart, and taking trips to the Casino.

Douglas is survived by his children Lance (Nya) Johnson, Kerri Johnson (Grady), Jo Leen (Le) Danielson, Tom (Trisha) Johnson, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Brother Peter (Janice) Johnson, and sister Jean Witthus, brothers-in-law Stanley (Nancy) Seitz and Steven Seitz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Vivian Johnson, daughter Krystal Johnson, wife Sharon Johnson, and son-in-law, Craig Grady.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be one hour before services. The Litchfield Military Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the start of the service. You are invited to gather for a light lunch at the funeral home following the service to share some memories and stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
