Eben Laidlaw

Eben Junior Laidlaw II, age 22 of Grove City, MN passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Litchfield, MN. A celebration of his life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday March 19, 2026, at Johnson Hagglund Funeral and Cremation in Litchfield, MN. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 PM.

Eben was born in Litchfield, MN to Grace Laidlaw in October 2003. He was placed with Bryan and Heidi Peterson, as his permanent parents, in December 2004. Eben attended, preschool through high school at ACGC. He graduated in 2022. During elementary and middle school, he was active in 4-H with projects in robotics, fishing and food preservation. This helped set the stage for his ongoing enjoyment of building sound systems, tinkering with and learning about mechanics and cooking food. He had an ongoing love of many genres of music. He spent most of his life in the Grove City and Litchfield area. Starting in high school, Eben began his work with food service and production. Some places of his employment included Burger King, Taco John's and later ADM/Revela, as an adult. Eben enjoyed anything novel and could find humor in anything, which was not always to his benefit. He loved his family and friends and had respect for these relationships. He liked family trips, and talking "smack" with his family and friends. He had a quick wit and loved sarcasm and humor. Eben liked watching movies, making people laugh and had an infectious smirk and chuckle. He enjoyed his nephews and nieces because they shared a love of joy and excitement. His constant companion was his dog, Sam Sam.  As with many of his relationships, he enjoyed irritating her as much as closeness and spending time with her. His time spent at Revela Foods was important to him because of the people he met and things he learned. He was constantly using his translation app to begin learning Spanish.

Eben is survived by his parents, Bryan and Heidi Peterson of Grove City, MN; siblings Danielle 'Nellie' Laidlaw of Litchfield, MN, Kayla Henderson (Tyler Smith) of rural Atwater, MN, Daniel Henderson (Trisha Sunde) of Atwater, MN and Tristan and Theresa Peterson of Grove City, MN; aunts Sheila Oldenburg of Sauk Rapids, MN and Roberta (Ben) Nelson of Willmar, MN; step grandfather Richard Rohrbeck of Grove City, MN; cousins Deven and McKell Oldenburg of Fargo, ND and Avery Nelson of Willmar, MN; nephews and nieces Deklyn Schultz, Zeanna Schultz, Oakley Laidlaw, Natalie Crisman, Reid Barvels, Miles Sunde, Easton Sunde and Larah Sunde; and his beloved dog Sam Sam; He is also survived by his best friend; numerous extended great aunts and second cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eben Junior Laidlaw I; grandparents Michael and Jean Oldenburg; and his first dog, Bruce.
