Edith Alice Mackedanz

Edith A. Mackedanz, age 97, died on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Dassel Lakeview Ranch. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery at a later date. Edith ""Edie Alyce Mackedanz, the daughter of Carl and Caroline (Christ) Magnuson, was born on March 7, 1919 in Litchfield. She grew up in the Strout area and attended country school through eighth grade. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1937. Edith married Henry Martin of Litchfield after high school. She moved to Spokane, Washington, near the naval base when Henry was drafted. Following WWII, they moved to San Diego. Henry passed shortly after and Edith returned to Minnesota. In 1953 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Mackedanz at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Litchfield. Edie was an active member of Trinity Episcopal. She worked at the Meeker County Courthouse for many years. Edie enjoyed bowling, dancing, baking and playing cards. She is survived by her children Carla Mackedanz (and Jonathan Pyne) of Wayzata and Darrell (and Darla) Mackedanz of Litchfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kelly (and Jason) Otto and Cory Mackedanz; great granddaughter Elyse Otto, nieces and nephews.
