Edmund Cowley

Edmund C. Cowley, age 71, of Litchfield, MN died on Monday March 6, 2023, at his home.  A time to celebrate his life will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday March 14, 2023, at Johnson Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service.   A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM.

Edmund Charles Cowley, the son of Edmund and Alice (Nielsen) Cowley was born on July 7, 1951, in St. Paul, MN.  He grew up in Woodbury, MN and graduated from Park Senior High, Cottage Grove, MN in 1970.  He served in the US Coast Guard and then continued his education at Winona State University.  Ed was a Drug and Alcohol Social Worker in Meeker County counselor.  He met the love of his life, Else Morch, while acting in the Litchfield Community Theater and united in marriage on January 8, 1994, in Ostmark Lutheran Church.  Ed was a proud member of the Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge No. 89 in Litchfield, MN.  He was active in the Litchfield Fire Department, the Litchfield Rescue Squad and was a volunteer driver for the Meeker County Veterans.  He appreciated sports, loved being outdoors, and enjoyed singing, gardening, traveling, building model airplanes and cars and spending time with his family.  He could often be seen walking his dog and will be remembered as a good friend and for his quick wit.

Ed is survived by his wife Else; sister Mary Alice Cowley; nieces and nephews Melanie Witthoft, “Jason” Glen Bayer, Brian Bayer, Kevin Cowley, Ryan Cowley, Katie Cowley, Nathalie Picard, Nina Picard, Julian Picard; great nieces and nephews Ian, Erin, Drake, Griffin Thor, Ryatt; and brother-in-law Jean Picard.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Alice Cowley; brother Doug Cowley; sister Doreen Cowley; nephew Nathan Cowley; and sister-in-law Anine Picard.
