Edwin Joseph Kampsen

Edwin J. Kampsen, age 88 of Litchfield, MN died on Tuesday April 24, 2018 at Meeker Manor in Litchfield, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, April 30th with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Litchfield. Edwin Joseph Jampsen, the son of Bernard and Catherine (Petermeier) Kampsen was born on May 6, 1929 in Elrosa, MN He was united in marriage to Lenora Gruber on October 25, 1949 in Lake Henry, MN. Edwin farmed for 13 years and then moved to town in Litchfield and worked for Reinke Sheet Metal until his retirement. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and then golf became his passion. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and had the ‘gift of gab’. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN. He is survived by his wife Lenora Kampsen of Litchfield, daughter Donna (Gary) Baltes of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren Matt (Stacey) Baltes of Plummer, MN and Nikki (Gus) Seward of Missoula, Mt; great grandchildren Kelsey and Macey Baltes; and Ryder and Marley Seward; brothers Herman (Delores) Kampsen of Belgrade and Ronald (Jan) Kampsen of Michigan; sisters Loretta Meyer of Melrose, Verena (Joe) Olmsheid of Belgrade and Marcella Burns of Clarrisa. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Catherine; son Allan Kampsen in1979; grandson Casey Baltes in 1986; brothers Fr. Fred Kampsen, Henry Kampsen, Norbert Kampsen, Clarence Kampsen and Hermon Kampsen; and sisters Nora Salmond, Rose Yarke, and Loretta Kampsen.
