Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Olson

Elizabeth “Betty” M. Olson, age 92, of Grove City, died on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Sunnyview Assisted Living in Atwater. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Grove City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elizabeth Mae Olson, the daughter of Emil and Fern (Williams) Erickson, was born on May 27, 1926 in Grove City. She grew up near Grove City and attended country school. Betty Graduated from Grove City High School. She worked for the hemp factory for a short time after graduation. On September 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ivan Olson in Grove City. Betty helped Ivan in the Gambles Store and cooked for the Grove City School for several years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Grove City. Betty enjoyed collecting fabric and quilting. She was very good at needle work; sewing her own clothes and doing hardanger embroidery. She also painted many of the wood crafts that Ivan made. She is survived by her children Curt (Judy) Olson of Bemidji, Barry (Sandy) Olson of Eden Prairie, Bonnie (Brad) Jans of Grove City and Bob (Renee) Olson of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren Eric (Jen) Olson, Nora Olson, Kirsten Olson, Rachel Olson, Laura Jans, Chelsea (Jackson) Smidt and Alex Olson. She is also survived by her brothers Donald (Ann) Erickson of Minneapolis Gordon (Janet) Erickson of Maddison, WI and sister Carol (Bill) Ledbetter of Tupelo, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, sister Shirley Hegg and brother Roger Erickson.
