Frances Mae Pollock

Frances Mae Pollock, the daughter of Alva and Annie (Hagemeister) Watkins was born October 15, 1930, at St. Cloud Hospital. She grew up in the Annandale area and eventually ended up in the Darwin area. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1948. She was proud to be chosen as Miss Meeker County in 1947. Frances met Clarence Pollock in 1948 and they were united in marriage in 1950. They lived on the Pollock dairy and poultry farm north of Darwin where they raised eight children. Fran also worked outside the home at LPC, HTI, and also as a volunteer at the Meeker Memorial Hospital gift shop. In 1993 they built their retirement home on Dunns Lake. Fran enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards, reading, sports, and spending time with family and friends. Recently she enjoyed playing dominoes for hours with her friend Josie Nelson at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home where she made her home for the past five years. Fran was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Darwin where she taught religion classes for many years. She was also a member of the Darwin Drifters Snowmobile Club and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Frances is survived by eight children: Kathy Edmonds (Tommy) of Dobson N.C., Cindy Theis of Watkins, Mike Pollock (Brenda) of Darwin, Pat Pollock (friend Marian) of Darwin, Julie Rathbun (Mike) of Darwin, Jack Pollock (Connie) of Darwin, Jerry Pollock (Kari Johnson) of Dassel, and Tom Pollock (Amy) of Litchfield. Nine grandchildren: Sara Jo Pollock, Chrissy Guza, Katie Pollock, Jason Pollock, Amy Smith, Ryan Rathbun, Ryley Pollock, Jacob Pollock, and Adam Pollock. Seven great grandchildren and sister in-law Sylvia Watkins.
