Gladys M. Johnson, age 96 of Litchfield, MN died at Meeker Manor in Litchfield on Sunday March 8, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday March 13, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday March 12, 2026 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held in Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN.
Gladys Mae Lillian Johnson, the daughter of Christie and Martha (Hagemister) Ratzlaff was born on May 28, 1929 in Savage, MN. She was baptized on July 14, 1929 in Rosemount, MN and graduated from Rosemont High School in 1947. She worked at Griebie’s Grocery store as a cashier for 3 years and then met and married C. Alvin Johnson on June 24, 1950 in Farmington, MN. She lived in Farmington, MN from 1950 to 1952, and Breckenridge, MN for a short time before moving to Litchfield, MN in 1953. When she married, she became a farmer’s wife and was the head cook at Bethany Nursing Home for 11 years. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. She was active with the Blood Mobile, the FHA Board, was an election Judge for the Darwin Township. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, gardening, going for walks, playing cards, baking, doing puzzles, cross stitching, and going to her grandkid’s activities.
Gladys is survived by her children Dennis (and Diane) Johnson of Litchfield, MN, Donna (and Chuck) Herdegen of Glencoe, MN and David (and Tracy) Johnson of Litchfield, MN; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; her sister Louise Wenzel of Jordan, MN; and her sister-in-law Bernet Ratzlaff.
She was preceded in death by her parents Christie and Martha; husband C. Alvin Johnson; great grandson Zackary Mlodzik; three brothers and four sisters.
Memorials can be sent to First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN or the Meeker County food shelf.
