GLORIA JAYNE (GOOD) OHLAND

An inspirational, strong and talented woman - Gloria was born on January 28, 1932 at home in Onamia, MN to Sevilla and Rex Good.  She had three older brothers, one older sister and one younger brother.  Her family moved to Danube where she grew up and met her husband Dean Ohland. Dean and Gloria were married January 19, 1949 in Minneapolis.

As owners of Ben Franklin stores, they made several moves including, Waterloo, IA ; LaCrosse, WI; Northfield, MN; and Litchfield, MN.  She was very active in the store while at the same time raising five children.  Gloria was an active Garden Club member and won many floral competitions.  She used her floral talents at her church in Northfield and Litchfield creating Sunday floral arrangements for many years.  She was an amazing cook.  Her food preparations were special to anyone who tried them.  Holidays and family gatherings were always highlighted by her family favorites.  Grandma taught many of the family cooks her “secrets”.  Although she willingly shared recipes we all realized we will never make things quite as tasty.  She absolutely loved playing bridge and spending time with her close friends.  Perhaps her favorite times were spent with family and friends at the lake cabin which they enjoyed and shared for the past forty years.  Gloria was one of the most non-judgemental, kind and accepting people we knew.  She was a wise woman who gave thoughtful advice, counsel, and suggestions to her children and grandchildren.  Our family is so blessed to have had Gloria as the matriarch of our family.  She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.  We feel so honored to be part of her family and to have been loved by her.

She entered her eternal life on Tuesday October 31, 2023 from her home, at the age of 91 with her husband and family by her side.  She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Dean; her son Rick (Mary) Ohland of Miltona, MN;  her daughter Barb (Steve) Landwehr of Miramar Beach, FL; her son Scott (Lona) Ohland of Eagan, MN; and her daughter Anna (Mark) Filippi of Litchfield, MN.  Also her 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her son Walter (Andy) (1986); her parents; her siblings (Archie Good, Gib Good, Rodney Good, LaVaun Schoeck, and Larry Good); and her son-in law Mark Filippi (2020).

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield at 11:00am on Saturday November 11, 2023.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at church.  Memorials are preferred to the flower fund at the United Methodist of Litchfield Church.  We want to thank the Ecumen Hospice for their dedicated care.
