Helen M. Boerner

Helen M. Boerner, age 90, of Litchfield, MN, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Bethany Assisted Living in Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Church of St. John in Darwin, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 5 at the Church of St. John with a 10:30 AM Daughters of Isabella Rosary service. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield. Helen Marie Boerner, the daughter of David and Anna (Casey) McGraw, was born on October 15, 1925 in Litchfield, MN. She grew up in Litchfield where she attended School District 34 and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1943. She continued her education, going to night school at the Minnesota Business School. Helen was united in marriage to Fred Boerner in Greenleaf Township at the St. Columban Church on July 11, 1953. She was a homemaker and helped run the family business, Boerner Well. She was an active member of the Church of St. Philip, the Daughters of Isabella and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Helen volunteered her time at the Church of St. Philip, the Meeker Memorial Hospital and the St. Philip's School. She participated in several card clubs and was a lifelong Vikings, Twins and Gopher sports fan. Helen enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She loved conversation, sharing her laughter and will be remembered for her warm smile. She is survived by her children Barb Boerner of Hopkins, MN, Michael (Debra) Boerner of Litchfield, MN, Mary Boerner of Eden Prairie, MN, Steve (Chris) Boerner of Watertown, MN and Joan Boerner of Eden Prairie, MN; 6 grandchildren; brothers Vernon ""Bud"" McGraw of White Bear Lake, MN, Joe McGraw of Fort Wayne, IN and Edward McGraw of Litchfield, MN; and a sister Geraldine Boerner of Minnetonka, MN.
