Herbert O. Neu

Herbert Ovide Neu, 90, of Litchfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born to the late Christian and Marie (Fischbach) Neu in Eden Valley, MN on February 13, 1936.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Family will greet friends for 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Growing up, he attended Paynesville school. Herbert was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church. He retired from First District Association, prior to that he had many jobs including farming. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, handyman work, helping his wife, Hattie with her flower beds and watching TV. He loved his Western shows.

Herbert is survived by his wonderful children, Kenneth (Mary) Neu, Pauline Johnson, Dale (Susan) Neu, Sharlene (Kenneth Jr) Koelln, Darlene Neu (Randy Cords), Brian (Anna) Neu, and Douglas Neu; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; 6 step great-great grandchildren; siblings, David Neu, Melvin Neu.

Herbert is now reunited with the love of his life, Hattie. He is also proceeded in death by his parents, siblings; Angie, Sylvester, Alice, Wilfred, Ermaline, Arvella, Delrose, Merlin, and Shirley. Son-in-law Buddy and great grandson, Joseph.
