Herbert Willner

Herbert M. Willner, age 70 of Eden Valley, MN died on Friday August 5, 2016 at Centracare Health in Paynesville, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 12, 2016 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eden Valley, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday at church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Military Honors will be provided by the Eden Valley American Legion Post 381. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery at a later date. Herbert Marlow Willner, the son of Herbert Carl and Grace Bernadine (Gerberding) Willner was born on March 27, 1946 in Blue Earth, MN. His family moved to Grove City where he graduated from Grove City High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Arlinda Meyer on June 22, 1968 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eden Valley. Herb was proud of his service in the United States Army which included a tour in Vietnam. Herb and Arlinda owned and operated Lindy's Café in Eden Valley for over 20 years. He also worked for Tom's Carpet and as an independent contractor through Tom's Carpet Kingdom where he worked until retirement. Herb was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and a church Elder. He served on the Eden Valley fire department for 22 years and was a member of the Eden Valley American Legion Post 381. Herb was a true veteran who was proud to be an American and kept in touch with his 4th Infantry Division Engineer Battalion brothers. In his retirement he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. One of his biggest joys was spending time with his 7 grandchildren and attending their many activities. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting. He is survived by his wife Arlinda of Eden Valley, MN; children Jonathon Herbert (Nicolle) Willner of Melbourne, FL and Jeremy Jon (Janene) Willner of Richmond, MN; grandchildren (Jon) Kaylee, Regan, Addisyn, Emma, (Jeremy) Hayden, Raevon and Xander; siblings Geraldine (Willard) Johnson of Ellington, FL, Diane Riebe of Forest City, MN and Irene Ward of Star Prairie, WI.
