Ileen Johnson, 85, of Litchfield, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2026, at St. Cloud Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip’s Church in Litchfield, Minnesota, with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
If you had the privilege of knowing Ileen, you knew she was a truly special woman — classy, warm, and full of life. She had a contagious laugh, a genuine love for meeting new people, and a deep joy for travel and adventure. She cherished her family and friends dearly and found happiness in the simple and meaningful things in life, including quilting, piecing together puzzles, and baking for those she loved. She also had a stubborn streak, which only added to her charm and made her all the more unforgettable.
Ileen was born on June 19, 1941, in Forest Prairie, to Floyd and Hazel Hockstedler. She spent her childhood in Dassel and Darwin and graduated from high school in 1959, the same year she was crowned Dassel’s homecoming queen.
She married Edward “Eddie” Johnson on November 27, 1965, and together they built a loving home in Darwin, Minnesota, where they raised their four children. Ileen devoted many years to being a stay-at-home mother before later working at Pamida and Litchfield Precision Components in Litchfield MN. She and Eddie taught their children by example, leaving them with lasting lessons of faith, love, hard work and family.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie Johnson; her children, Brian (Jennifer) Johnson, Tracey (Al Anderson) Lynn, Randy (Terri) Johnson, and Julie (Troy) Elam; her grandchildren, Tyler Sommerfeld, Emily Sommerfeld, and Lexy Johnson; her sister, Betty Johnson; and many other beloved family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clayton and Donnie; and her sister, Carol.
