Jackie Hicks

Jacqueline Sue Hicks, age 53, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on November 7, 2023. Her memorial service will be held at Beckville Lutheran Church on Thursday November 16, 2023 with visitation from 4:30-6:00 pm and the service at 6:00 pm. 

She was born on October 21, 1970 in Hutchinson, Minnesota to Janet and Merlin Ortloff. In 1989, she graduated from Hutchinson High School and went on to attend Minnesota State University Mankato and earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She married Jamie Hicks on August 24, 1996 at Our Saviors Church. She worked with Northstar Counseling as a mental health therapist in Hutchinson since 2018, where she was held in high regard by her clients and coworkers. She was a member of the Danielson Hustler’s 4-H club and was affiliated with Beckville Lutheran Church in Greenleaf. Jackie had a deep love for swimming and was a longtime athlete with the Hutchinson High Tides team. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with family, watching football and hockey, and vacations to Florida to visit her favorite place: the beach. 

Jackie was survived by her husband, Jamie, her mother, Janet Ortloff, her brother, Brian (Melissa) Ortloff, her sister, Kim Ortloff, her children: Tyler (Kaitlyn) Ortloff, Madison (Devin) Brutger, Abigail Hicks, Grace Hicks, and Mesa Hicks, as well as 8 grandchildren and her beloved pot belly pig, Annabelle. She was preceded in death by her father, Merlin Ortloff and her mother-in-law, Kathy Hicks.
