Janet L. Pearson, 83, of rural Grove City, MN died on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Rosendale United Methodist Church in rural Atwater, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, December 9, at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be held at the Rosendale United Methodist Cemetery. Janet Lillian Pearson, the daughter of J. Herbert and Lillie Isabel (Johnson) Johnson, was born on November 26, 1933 in rural Dassel Township, MN. She grew up on a farm in rural Darwin and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1951. She lived in Minneapolis where she worked for Northrup King for several years following graduation. She moved back home and worked for Holm Brothers in Dassel and later at the Darwin Bank. Janet was united in marriage to Vernon Jerome Pearson at Swan Lake Lutheran Church in rural Dassel on December 7, 1957. Janet and Vernon made their home at a farm in rural Grove City for the past 59 years, where she raised her family and farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Rosendale United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active on the church board, the UMW Women's organization and the church prayer group. She was also a 4-H Club leader and was active in the local birthday club. Janet served on the Meeker County Memorial Hospital board for a few years. She enjoyed driving tractor, painting, crocheting, needlework and crafting. She is survived by her husband Vernon Pearson of rural Grove City, MN; children Ralph (Connie) Pearson of rural Grove City, MN, Neil (Sheila) Pearson of rural Grove City, MN, Lee (Karen) Pearson of rural Atwater, MN, Kim (Michael) Ries of Minnetonka, MN and Nancy (Dan Platt) Pearson of Excelsior, MN; 13 grandchildren Joy (Philip) Lere, Joshua (Sierra) Pearson, Mitchell (Klaire) Pearson, Kayla (Lance) Brune, Matthew (Brianna) Pearson, Kjersten Pearson, Heather (Forest) Sage, Nicole (Sean) Bergen, Andrew Pearson, Josephine Ries, Alexandra Ries, Lily Platt and Briette Platt; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister Gail (Richard) Burkstrand of Andover, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Shirley Johnson.
