Karen Gorr, age 84, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Hilltop Healthcare Center in Watkins, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be determined by her family. Karen Arline Gorr, the daughter of Arline Cottrill and William Huffman, was born on April 6, 1937 in Colorado. Karen graduated from Pierre High School in Pierre, SD, and then received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Karen was a Special Education teacher for many years and spoke to graduating seniors about how and her brother, David, grew up in the institution in Redfield, SD after her father passed away. Karen married Dale Gorr on August 28, 1968, and their daughter Katie was born in 1969. Karen told her story in her book that was published when she was 80 years old, titled, “A Life of Triumph” by Karen Gorr as told to Duane Hickler. She loved her family immensely and was almost always the life of the party. Karen is survived by her daughter, Kate and her wife, Cindi Gorr, granddaughter Shanda (Andrew) Larsen, granddaughter Kaitlyn (Kyle) Totushek, grandson Bradley (Brandee) Bohning, great grandsons Colt and Hunter Bohning, and great Aunt LaVada Cottrill. Karen also grew up with Mary Parlet, whom she considered to be just like her little sister. Karen was preceded in death by her parents William Huffman and Arline Oroszi, brother David Huffman, husband Dale Gorr, and mother-in-law Katie Gorr. For those of you who really knew Karen, you know she loved a good party. We will have one last party for her so we can celebrate her life and share great memories about her.
