Kim E. Birkemeyer, age 61, of Litchfield, MN died on Friday, March 30, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2:30 PM, prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Kim Edward Birkemeyer, the son of Richard and Doris (Hillmeyer) Birkemeyer was born on February 12, 1957 in Litchfield, MN. He was confirmed and baptized at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1975. Kim followed his fathers footsteps and was a plumber for many years before he found his calling as a welder. He worked at Hutchinson Manufacturing for 16 years and Doosan Bobcat in Litchfield for 10 years. He was not known to sit still, and was very particular with his projects, making sure that things were done the right way. He had a knack for picking out the perfect birthday or greeting card and was a great uncle to his nieces and nephew. Recently he took to painting as a past time. He thoroughly enjoyed his Alaskan Cruise and an auto trip to the western states to visit several national parks and was looking forward to doing more traveling. Kim enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, riding motorcycle, bowling, watching Formula One racing, feeding the birds and squirrels at his house, watching his cousin race Go-Carts, and playing softball with the guys. Kim is survived by his mother Doris Birkemeyer of Litchfield, MN; brothers Kris Birkemeyer of Litchfield, MN and Kurt (Bridget) Birkemeyer of Litchfield, MN; and nieces and nephew Melanie, Becca, Hannah and William. He was preceded in death by his father Richard; grandparents; and brother Kyle. Memorials may be directed to the Litchfield Area Hospice or First Lutheran Church.
