Luaine "Butch" Carrol Weseman

January 1, 1942 — April 24, 2019

“Butch” C. Weseman, age 76, of Litchfield died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 28th at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery. Luaine Carrol Weseman, the son of John and Jeanette (Wimmer) Weseman, was born on November 21, 1942 in St. James, Minnesota. At age thirteen his family moved to rural Litchfield and began farming. Butch attended and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1960. He farmed with his father until his passing in 1965 and Butch continued farming. On January 15, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Jean Konietzko in Litchfield. They were members of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Butch lived his life as the definition of a farmer. He raised crops, sold seed and loved running his John Deere machinery. He also cared for his neighbors. He could often be found riding with his dog on the Gator checking on the crops and the neighborhood. Butch had a witty personality and enjoyed joking around with folks but, you always knew where you stood with him because he would tell it like he saw it. He enjoyed buying and selling machinery and always had “a deal in the works”. In his younger years he enjoyed riding snowmobiles and playing softball. After Mary Jean died in 2002, Butch spent many hours and miles on his Harley. He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls; which for him wasn’t as much about the competition and machinery as it was spending time with his family and friends. He loved his family and meals together was one of his favorite things. He is survived by his children John (Lori) Weseman of Litchfield, Wayne (Tina) Weseman of Litchfield, Heather (Steve) Johnson of Logan, UT; grandchildren Adam Weseman, Cole Weseman, Broc Weseman, Austin Larson, Kirsten Weseman, and Collette Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters Lois (Del) Blackwell of Litchfield and Linda (Mike) Stewart of Cold Spring; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary Jean.
