Lucille M. Plate, age 92, of Litchfield, MN, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the Dassel Lakeside Nursing Home in Dassel, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Litchfield Christian Church with Pastor Mike Zylstra officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN.
Lucille Margaret Plate was born on January 14, 1918, to Frank and Emily (Pearson) Hanson in Litchfield, MN. Lucille graduated from Litchfield High School and continued her education attending beauty school. Lucille was united in marriage to Gale Plate on July 28, 1940. In July of 1940, Lucille and Gale went into business and operated a Red Owl Agency Grocery Store in Kimball for seven years before selling. The bought a larger general store in Eden Valley, partnering with Ray Anderson for seven years before selling. They purchased a Red Owl Agency Store in Cokato in Cokato and operated it for three years and then sold it. They then moved to Litchfield and she opened a beauty shop and ran it until she retired in 1978. She was a member of the Litchfield Christian Church. Lucille enjoyed fishing and agate hunting.
Lucille is survived by her brothers, Lloyd Hanson of Litchfield and Kenneth Hanson of Litchfield, nieces and nephews; Scott (and Delores) Hanson, Ken (and Chris) Hanson, Sheila (and Larry) Rossell and Kathy (and Virgil) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Gale, parents Frank and Emily, brother Don and sister Marion.
