Luella Marquardt, age 97, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Meeker Manor in Litchfield. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery. Luella Ida Marquardt was born on May 16, 1920 in Harrison Township to Theodore and Caroline (Mohr) Kahmeyer. She was baptized June 6, 1920 and confirmed April 14, 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Atwater. Luella was united in marriage on September 11, 1940 to Edwin Marquardt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield by Pastor Karl Plocher. They made their home in Litchfield and were blessed with three daughters, Joyce, Shirley and Barbara. Luella enjoyed sewing and made most of the clothes the girls wore. She really enjoyed her garden, playing cards, and having family and friends over for dinners. They also liked camping trips and traveling. Luella had her own business making rag rugs. Luella is survived by her daughters; Shirley (Moon) Lietzau of Coon Rapids and Barb (Dick) Defries of Cokato, grandchildren; Randy (Tina) Lietzau, Rick (Tammy) Lietzau, Rochelle (George) Badavinac, Nick Defries, Scott (Pam) Defries, Todd (Melanie) Allen, Debra Allen Hickler, Taylor Allen, 18 great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren. Luella is also survived by her sisters; Arlene Rueckert and Jenni (Dennis) Lietzau, sisters-in-law; Betty Kahmyer and Caroline (Chuck) McCann and many other relatives and friends. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, daughter Joyce Allen, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
