Lyle J. Stormo, age 70 of Litchfield, MN died on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Johnson Hagglund Funeral Home.
Lyle was born on February 21, 1955, to Barbara and Delbert Stormo. He spent his childhood growing up in Allyn, Washington. After graduation, he packed up and drove to Minnesota, where he met the love of his life. On January 20, 1975, he married Maralyn Klehr. This year, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary-a milestone marked by a lifetime of love and commitment. Together, they were blessed with three children.
Lyle was a man of many talents. In his younger years, it was all about cars. He could fix or beautifully paint any car. He especially loved rebuilding his '56 Nomad and helping Pete with his '57 Chevy. He was also an exceptional carpenter. He helped each of us build or renovate our homes, and his work was always pristine-done with precision and pride. Overtime, his talent evolved into a passion for woodworking. He built cabinets, furniture, and lovingly crafted toys for the kids. Dad also loved fried chicken, he taught each of us kids how to cut up a chicken "the right way." As he aged, what truly kept him going was time with his children-and those casino trips, especially with his daughter-in-law, which brought him joy and excitement. He looked forward to every visit from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. We'll remember him in the smell of sawdust, the sound of a good running car, and laughter around the dinner table-and every time we cut up a chicken. He will be deeply missed.
Lyle is survived by his wife Mary Stormo; Children Pete (Cindy) Stormo of Rice, Tricia (Jamie) Shoutz of Sauk Centre, Scott (Mark) Stormo of Litchfield. His siblings: Duane (Shari) Stormo, Lori (Dana) Wynn, and Gene (Arlene) Stormo. He is also survived by Grandchildren, Brian Eblen, Andrew Stormo, Austin Shoutz, Trevor Shoutz, Ryan Shoutz, Aliya Shoutz and 3 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Del and Barb Stormo, Grandsons Zackary Stormo, and Colten Shoutz.
