Margery E. Koosman

Margery E. Koosman, age 83, of Litchfield, MN died on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Dassel Lakeside Heath Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Backus Cemetery in Backus, MN. Margery Estella Koosman, the daughter of Carl and Caroline (Miller) Rettig, was born on January 25, 1933 in Brownton, MN. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1951 and continued her education, graduating from the Mankato Commercial College in 1952. Margery was united in marriage to Waldon William Koosman on June 6, 1953 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Pen Township. Throughout her life she lived in Howard Lake, Backus and Litchfield; and worked at Wright-Hennepin Electric in Maple Lake, MN, a toy factory in Golden Valley, MN, Buffalo Veener for 16 years and the Corner Store in Backus, MN. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was President, secretary and treasurer of the Ladies Guild while attending church in Backus. When she moved to Howard Lake in 1996 she was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and she was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Margery enjoyed fishing, crocheting, cooking, coloring, puzzles and playing bingo and cards. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and one liner jokes. She is survived by her children Janice (Doug) Frykholm of Howard Lake, MN, Keith Koosman of Howard Lake, MN, Steve (Kim) Koosman of Howard Lake, MN, Wayne (Connie) Koosman of Howard Lake, MN and Kevin (Barb) Koosman of Litchfield, MN; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister Mildred Rettman of Winthrop, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Caroline; husband Waldon; daughter Mary Riker; son-in-law Larry Riker; brothers and two grandsons.
