Marilyn Yvonne Wolford

Marilyn Y. Wolford, age 76, of Litchfield died on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 19th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Marilyn Yvonne Bordson Wolford was born July 20, 1939 at the home farm in Madison Township to Henry and Bertha Flaaen Bordson. She was baptized at Hegre Lutheran Church on September 3, 1939. She attended rural school District 42 until the 8th grade, and then attended Madison Public School in Madison, MN. She was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church May 17, 1953. Marilyn graduated from Madison High School in 1957. She worked at the Central Telephone Office while attending high school. Marilyn graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in October 1958. Marilyn married Robert E. Wolford from Dawson, MN on October 11, 1958 at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison. They lived in Albany, GA and Marilyn was employed at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany until Robert was discharged from the United States Marine Corps. They moved to Bloomington, MN and Marilyn worked as a Medical Technician. To them, three sons were born: Brian Lee, Mark Alan, and Daniel Blair. They moved to Albert Lea, MN and then to Bettendorf, IA where Marilyn worked for the Bettendorf Community School District. After the children graduated, Bob and Marilyn moved to Denton, TX where she was employed at the University of North Texas. Marilyn retired in 1999 and they then moved to Lake Minniebelle in Litchfield, MN. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church. Marilyn enjoyed playing Bridge and watching birds. She is survived by her loving Husband Robert – married for 57 years. Also survived by sons: Brian of Geneva IL, Mark and Portia of LeClaire IA, Daniel (and Girlfriend Renee Daugherty) of Plano TX, one granddaughter Kristin, and two grandsons Kyle and Grant. Also one sister Geraldine Haukos of Glencoe MN, one niece Dawn Huepenbecker of Litchfield MN, and two nephews Jan Haukos and Kim Haukos both of Glencoe MN. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Bertha Bordson, and two brothers Pervin and Merlin Bordson.
