Marlene M. Hiepler, age 84, of Litchfield, MN died on October 20, 2016, at the Buffalo Hospital in Buffalo, Minnesota. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Marlene Mae Hiepler, the daughter of Herbert and Augusta (Mistelski) Hansen was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 1, 1932. She moved to South Haven with her family and received her education at the Annandale High School. Married Lawrence Maurer and together they had three children Larry, Deborah, Denise. They resided in South Haven. Marlene had moved to N.E. Minneapolis with her three children to start a new chapter. In which she married Edwin Petersen and had two more children Kimberly and David. Edwin Petersen and Marlene had moved to Rosemount and purchased a farm in Waconia Minnesota. Marlene had decided that she no longer wanted to be a farmers wife and moved to Shakopee with her youngest two children. Living in Shakopee she soon met and married Marvin Hiepler. Marvin and Marlene decided that Blaine Minnesota would be a place to start their life together. Marvin soon retired and purchased a motel in Big Stone South Dakota. Marlene and Marvin ran the motel for about ten years and moved to Atwater Minnesota. Marlene had lived her last six years with daughter Denise and son in-law Dale in Litchfield Minnesota. Marlene had worked at several different jobs including Honey Well, Metropolitan Stadium, Post Office, several banks, National School Studio's, Lakeside Toys, Big Stone Motel and her last job she was a home health aide assisting the elderly. Marlene will be remembered for her quick witted personality and she loved playing cards, especially poker and enjoyed her trips to the casino, working in her garden. Marlene enjoyed the simple things in life like her morning coffee. She is survived by her husband Marvin Hiepler of Litchfield, MN; children Larry Petersen of St. Cloud, MN, Deborah Pregler of Litchfield, MN, Denise (Dale) Foss of Litchfield, MN, Kimberly Petersen of California and David Petersen of Litchfield, MN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Janice Olson of Duluth and Karen Peppinger of Moses Lake, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
