Marlene Joyce [Paulson] Wallin, age 81, died on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Meeker Manor in Litchfield, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Rosendale Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00—7:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in Rosendale Methodist Cemetery. Marlene was born in Lake Elizabeth Township, MN August 1, 1936 to Robert and Roslyn [Jackson] Paulson. Marlene spent her early years on the family farm north of Cosmos, MN. She attended elementary school at District 71 and she graduated from Litchfield High School in 1954. She continued her education at St Cloud State University, St Cloud, MN. Marlene graduated with a degree in business and received her teaching certificate. She taught business courses at the Robbinsdale, Clara City and Rochester schools. Marlene traveled throughout Europe with college friends and spent one summer studying at three colleges in Alaska. Marlene was united in marriage to Merlin Wallin of Stockholm, Wisconsin on July 23, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Rosendale, MN. They made their home in New Hope, MN, Merlin worked for the Ben Franklin Stores at the district office in New Hope. Marlene started on a new career as a Health Unit Coordinator at the Methodist Hospital in St Louis Park, MN, Merlin’s work brought them to Grayling, MI. In 1980's, Marlene was employed at the Grayling Hospital. They moved back to Minnesota in the early 1990’s and made their home in Minnetonka. Marlene resumed her employment at the Methodist Hospital. In 1998, Marlene had a double knee surgery and a day later she suffered a massive stroke and wasn't expected to survive, with loving care from Merlin and lot's of therapy she could maintain the house, cook and bake her goodies, her specialty was Peanut Brittle. She and Merlin did a lot of traveling to Nova Scotia, California and Florida and places in between, even a Paddle Wheel trip up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Davenport, IA. Marlene worked very hard to overcome her difficulties. Marlene had many interests, she loved her church at Rosendale and the many events that she took part in there. She was a wonderful cook and baker, she loved doing crafts, and she had many Christmas and Easter Ceramics. She also enjoyed quilting, macramé, stitchery, latch hooking, decoupaging, sewing and many others. Marlene and Merlin both enjoyed their dog Muffy. Marlene is survived by her loving relatives and friends. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Roslyn Paulson and husband Merlin.
