Mary Emma Christoffer

Mary Emma Christoffer, age 86 of Eden Valley, was called to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024, while residing at Garden View assisted living in Watkins, MN. A funeral service will be held at the Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley, MN on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior.

Mary was born on the family farm near Watkins, MN on May 26, 1938 to Ludwig and Mary (Bauer) Nohner, the youngest of 9 children. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. Peter's church in Eden Valley, MN. She attended a country school, District 35, before attending high school in Eden Valley, graduating in 1956.

On May 18,1957 she was united in marriage to Virgil Christoffer at St. Peter's Catholic church in Eden Valley and to this union they welcomed 4 children; Yvonne, Vernon, Debra and Randall. They raised their family and farmed near Eden Valley until retirement in 2003. They enjoyed playing cards, fishing and visiting with family and friends.

Mary moved to Eden Valley after Virgil passed away in 2006 and continued to enjoy gardening, visiting with neighbors as well as being active in the Assumption Church parish. She enjoyed having her family around and many great memories were made at the family gatherings at her house. Her Shih Tzu dogs; Chase and Shadow were constant companions at her side.

She is survived by her children Vernon (Carla) Christoffer of Litchfield, Debra Hansen of Eden Valley, Randall Christoffer of St. Cloud, sister Adeline Fink of St. Cloud, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; daughter, Yvonne Lang; parents Louis and Mary Nohner; siblings Catherine, Elmer, Lawrence, Genevieve, Esther, Jerome and Adrian.

Internment will be at Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN.
