Mary A. Nagel, age 73, of Litchfield died on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30th at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 29th at the Church. A parish prayer service will be held at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Mary Ann Nagel, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy (Hart) Flynn, was born on March 5, 1944, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. She graduated from Breckenridge High School and continued her education at Moorhead State. On October 12, 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard Nagel at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Breckenridge. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area before moving to Wanamingo in 1966. Three years later, they moved to Litchfield. Mary took great pride and joy in the places she worked. She drove bus for Hicks Bus and Trucking and dispatched for the Meeker County Sheriff's Office. She worked as a nursing assistant at the Meeker Memorial Hospital and as a PCA for Meeker County Community Homes. Her great work ethic was evident when she was named employee of the month numerous times while she worked at McDonalds. Mary was a very active member of the Church of St. Philip. She served on several committees and volunteered driving bus for St. Philip School. Her Eucharistic Ministry to Lincoln Apartments brought her much joy. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, watching birds, and of course playing cards with her family and friends. She was an accomplished bridge and whist player. Mary never turned down an opportunity to go fishing. Before her illness, she played golf almost every day. Tuesday night Bingo with family and friends was a weekly ritual. She had a love for children and could be seen handing out popsicles, suckers and sheriff's badge stickers wherever she went. She never missed a sporting event or concert that involved her grandchildren. She and Dick were their biggest fans and supporters. She is survived by her husband Richard Nagel of Litchfield, children Dr. Michael and Dawn Nagel of Olivia, Nancy and Dan McGraw of Litchfield, Robert and Shelly Nagel of Sauk Rapids, daughter-in-law Heather O'Leary and husband Brian of Litchfield; grandchildren Heather and David Murtha, Jennifer and Brandon Hoffman, Maggie Nagel and significant other Jared Dettmann, Michelle Kavage, Beau and Marlena McGraw, Keats McGraw, Shaun O'Leary, Tayler Nagel and significant other Jared Pedersen, Olivia O'Leary, Erika Janorschke, Andrew Nagel; great grandchildren Sophie, Piper, Carter, Bailey, Jordan, and Noah. She is also survived by her brother Thomas and Faye Flynn of Fargo, ND, sisters Gail and Jim Singelmann of Breckenridge and Karen and Gary Mullin of Breckenridge. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Thomas R.
