Maxine Smith

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 28th at the Church of St. Philip with Father Joseph Steinbeisser celebrating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield with a parish prayer service at 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Maxine was welcomed home by her dearly loved sister Deloris McVicker, her parents Ruby and Algot Anderson and special family Maureen Moreland on May 24, 2008. She is survivied by her loving husband Ervin B. Smith after 61 years of marriage; her children Judy Smith, Tom (Shirley) Smith, Ervin B. Smith, Jr., Kathie Smith (Kevin Burns), and Dan (Carla) Smith, all of whom gave her great pride and joy; her 6 dear grandchildren and 3 delightful great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister Bernice (Arnie) Retzlaff and brother-in-law Lew McVicker. Maxine will be remembered for many things, among them her bright welcoming smile, her laugh, her voracious love of reading, her generous soul, her warm home and caring ways, and her interest in learning new things both at home and abroad. We will love you forever and miss you dearly. Maxine enjoyed fresh cut flowers so you are invited to bring a bouquet from your garden to the visitation or the church service.
